Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, a.k.a. “OLS”, is a hands-on introductory training to provide the Outdoor Leader Skills that gives adult leaders practical knowledge setting up a campsite, pitching a tent, hiking, outdoor cooking and all the skills necessary to see the outdoor program of BSA come to life. The course follows the Boy Scout Handbook to ensure new leaders are proficient in the basic outdoor skills through First Class rank. Participants gain comfort knowing they can show their Scouts how to accomplish outdoor skills while fulfilling rank requirements, as well as how to plan and carry out campouts and other exciting troop activities.
The AHG-BSA Memorandum of Mutual Support establishes the framework for AHG Leaders and volunteers to attend BSA training, but you may be the first AHG representative a particular Training Chair has encountered. Please make every effort to demonstrate AHG’s values to those you speak with, and make the first impression a very positive one.
Contact the District Training Chair for the course you are interested in for registration details.
