‘Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?’

Coming this spring to the National Geographic Channel is a new reality competition show that pits a select team of Eagle Scouts against a group of adult former scouts in a variety of high-adventure competitions.

Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout? is the brainchild of Thom Beers, the producer of such hit action-reality series as Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers, and himself a one-time Boy Scout. “I loved being a Boy Scout,” he recalls. “It was awesome. I was three merit badges short of being an Eagle Scout, and for 40 years this has bugged the heck out of me. It gnawed at me.”

This article from Scouting Magazine gives an exciting preview of the action to come — read it to see what is in store for viewers.

Why is this relevant to American Heritage Girls? For the taste of high adventure! Let the girls — and the leaders! — see what possibilities are out there for them. Outdoor adventures are great for motivating girls to remain active in the Troop as they enter the teen years, and outdoor activities help develop teamwork and confidence in girls of all ages.

AHG programming includes many high adventure options, and for the girl who really wants the challenge, the Venturing program from BSA is available for girls 9th grade and above.
