National Frontier Trails Museum: Getting Ready, May 16-23-30

Tour the gallery exhibits with a guide to examine what needed to be done to prepare for a westward journey.

Don’t miss the gift shop while you are there. We have found a wide variety reasonably priced activities and kits that would be suited to a number of the Heritage and Arts Frontiers.

Free Admission for Mom at the Truman Library, May 12

In honor of Mother’s Day, Museum admission for mothers is free. Mr. Truman, as portrayed by re-enactor Niel Johnson, will visit his presidential Museum and greet visitors from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Free Entrance Days in the National Parks, Apr. 22-26

If you’re planning a trip that includes multiple national parks, you might consider the $80 annual pass that provides entrance to all national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forests, and many other Federal lands-more than 2,000 in all. This America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass is offered free to all active duty military members and their dependents. Geppetto’s Fish Story, Jan. 19

Geppetto's Fish StorySeasoned puppeteer Anitra Steele once again visits the Puppetry Arts Institute with a brand new show. The story the famous but fictional woodcarver, Geppetto, and his grandson, Little Pin. There’s no way Little Pin can catch a bigger fish than the one that caught his Grandpa Geppetto. Admission also includes a tour of our puppet museum, which features our exhibit, Pinocchio Time! Finger puppets of show characters are for sale at the front desk.

The Oregon Trail Film Series: Beginnings, Jan. 6

It was the most incredible journey any American family has ever attempted.  A 2,000 mile walk across a hot, barren wilderness. The complete story of the hardy pioneers who changed the course of American history is told in this special four part documentary series (continued on Sundays in January).
