The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs, Feb. 6

Are YOU afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf? What really happened? YOU decide! Based on the hilariously popular book, the play begins where the book leaves off, with the trial of a much-maligned citizen of the piggy public. Alexander T. Wolf is on trial for the demise of two of the three little pigs. Add a fast-talking independent reporter pig, a tough-as-nails judge with a weakness for musical theater and a smooth-talking lawyer pig and you’ve got a crazy cast that will keep you guessing – guilty or not guilty. When all the witness statements are in, the audience piglets become the jury and determine Al’s fate!

Community School of the Arts Spring Open House, Jan. 26

In 2004, Kansas City Young Audiences (KCYA) opened the Community School of the Arts (CSA) with the help and vision of many community leaders.  The mission of the CSA is to provide students within our community a comprehensive arts experience that inspires them to discover and develop their unique talents.

The CSA offers classes in dance, theatre, visual arts, music and creative writing to children after-school, on Saturdays and throughout the summer.  Learn more about the Community School of the Arts.

Children as young as two years old may take group classes in creative writing, dance, drama, music, and visual art. Private instruction is available in vocal and instrumental music. CSA classes meet after school and on Saturdays.  During the summer, full day, week long Summer Camps offer outstanding opportunities for children to express themselves.

This could be an interesting show for the Theater badge for older girls, as well as a different aspect on Freedom’s Heroes. Definitely consider the opportunities for discussions guided by your Troop Shepherd or other trusted adult.
